Swanfoam Plantar Cover

When should it be used?

If you have a patient who needs the ball of their foot cushioned then considering using a swanfoam plantar cover pad.

1 First Steps

Cut a piece of swanfoam into shape, so that it covers the ball of the foot, reaching just underneath the toe webbing.

2 Bevel the Pad

Bevel the pad all the way around to prevent any edges putting extra pressure on the foot.

Note it is a bit tricker to bevel swanfoam than it is felt, so take extra care when completing this step.

3 Final Steps

Peel off the paper backing and attach the pad to the foot.

Jonathan recommends applying strapping, as swanfoam doesn’t adhere quite as well as felt pads.
