Horse Shoe Pad

When should it be used?

If you have a patient who needs pressure alleviating from the top of one of their toes then consider using a horse shoe pad.

1 First Steps

Start by cutting the pad into an arced shape, with a small indentation made on one side of the the front (anterior) edge.

  • This indentation will prevent pressure being placed on the nail.

2 Cutting a U Shape

Proceed to cut an underbevelled U into the pad.

  • As the name suggests, the pad should have a horse shoe shape once this is done.

3 Final Steps

Peel off the backing and place the pad around the toe that requires the alleviation of pressure.

  • You can secure this pad in place using tape or tubular bandage.
