6 Steps for Dispensing Formthotics

A video explaining the process of dispensing formthotics after you have assessed a patient. The course will give you an understanding of the variables you can change with Formthotics and the process of customising Formthotics for your patient’s needs.

The steps include:

  • Formthotics selection and fitting
  • Patient adjustment period
  • Rear foot modification
  • Forefoot modification
  • In-shoe testing
  • Follow up and ongoing adjustment

This video 32 minutes in length, but you are encouraged to practice the techniques described in the course which will require further time and repeated viewing.

It is anticipated that this will lead to 2 hours of CPD activity.

Biomechanics: assessing patients for Formthotics using 6 clinical tests.

A video presentation describing some simple clinical tests that can be used to assess a patient when dispensing Formthotics. The course serves as a refresher for some basic assessment skills and an introduction to biomechanics for some practitioners.

The video includes demonstrations, explanations of techniques and their relevance to practice.

  • Develop skills in open and closed kinetic chain assessment, including:
  • Sub talar joint assessment
  • Alignment test
  • Jack’s test
  • Supination resistance test
  • Proximal control test
  • Neuromotor balance test

The aim of the course is to become familiar with 6 tests that can be used in a clinical setting without any particular equipment.

Presented by Tony Gavin who explains the underpinning theories behind these simple clinical tests.

The video can be revisited to recap the tests so that you may have a point of reference.

This video 54 minutes in length, but you are encouraged to practice the techniques described in the course which will require further time and repeated viewing. It is anticipated that this will lead to 3 hours of CPD activity.
