When should it be used?
This pad should be used to alter the mechanics, locally, around the metatarsophalangeal joints. It can be used in the management of common conditions that cause metatarsalgia. It can also be used to assist with straightening hammered or clawed toes.
1 First Steps
Start by cutting a pad to the shape of the middle 3 metatarsals.
2 Bevel the pad
Next you want to top bevel all the way around the pad.
3 Final Steps
Remove the paper backing and apply the bevel so that it sits just across the metatarsophalangeal joints.
Some patients may benefit from the pad sitting slightly forwards (anterior) or backwards (posterior).
